In 2011 Raging Pixel partnered with local documentary production company Storyteller Media to design and create a mobile app.
Before It’s Too Late: Orangutan uses a blend of traditional documentary footage mixed with interactive gameplay to raise awareness of the plight of the critically endangered Orangutan.
On this project, I was involved in the initial design process, building and sourcing of all 3D assets, and creating code to facilitate user interaction. Using the Unity3D game engine, I developed techniques for rendering large, lush jungle environments on limited smartphone hardware (iPhone 3GS target), implemented a real-time inverse kinematic (IK) rig setup for the Orangutan character, and created optimised, mobile-friendly shaders.
