Processing Plant

Recently created some renders of part of a gas processing plant for Inpex on their impressive Ichthys Project at Blaydin Point near Darwin.

This was a particularly challenging rush job. With a little over a week I had to wrangle a massive amount of geometry (Some ~175 million polygons across nearly a million objects!) into something which could be textured, lit, and rendered relatively quickly and realistically. To do this I ended up writing some quick tools to help sort through the mass of data 🙂

Although a tough job, I’m happy with the results. Couldn’t help but think to myself while working on this, that it would make a great interactive project – possibly even as a virtual reality experience for training! 🙂
